I&#039;m sure I wouldn&#039;t convince the author that public transit is worth it, but BART is definitely not underutilized. It&#039;s packed to the gills for hours each day. It may still cost more than riders pay, but then so do highways (which I&#039;d bet the author knows).

@tdstephens3, unfortunately, Amtrak has some serious problems with service, at least in the midwest and west, where I&#039;ve used it. It&#039;s a problematic example for the value of public transit.</description>
