I wrote this essay specifically to be controversial. The views expressed herein are more extreme than what I believe personally, written primarily for the purposes of provoking discussion. If after reading this essay you have a strong reaction, then I’ve accomplished my goal :)
So, it’s a well-intended troll?
It’s not that troll-ish. The paper has substance. The author makes a few hyperbolic statements, but I believe he has discovered that hyperbole is lost on many geeks, and so he put a flashing red light on the first page saying “WARNING! Hyperbole ahead.”
