New theme

I’ve changed the appearance of this blog. If you find anything that’s broken, or if you have suggestions for improvement, please let me know. As far as I can tell, it seems to work OK on multiple platforms.

I’m more likely to implement suggestions that come with specific details. For example, if you say “I don’t like your theme” then there’s not much I can do unless you suggest an alternative. But if you say something like “I’d suggest changing this line of CSS because …” I can at least try it out.

  1. Love the aesthetics of the new theme.

The only thing I would maybe change it is the Read More button on every post. It should really read “Comments”, because the entire length of your post is usually already displayed on the main page anyway (due to your ability to produce succinct Hemingway-esque prose).

    Otherwise, it looks really nice!

  2. Hi John,

I really like this theme. Clean, simple, easy to read and find the information I am looking for. One thing I personally like is to use the “justify” option when formatting paragraphs in a post. I believe it would really go well with how clean and organized your site is. Again, this might sound minor and more of a personal taste. I just thought I would share this with you.

    Regards
    Sam

  3. I, too, miss the ship.

The right-hand stuff is missing in IE8, (which gives an unappealing “wall of text” feel), but that’s me, missing the boat.

    P. S.Looks fine in Chrome on W7.

  4. The general text color of #6b6b6b makes it harder for me to read, but I might have a case of old eyes. (In particular, line 54 of div.entry-content and line 43 of body.single, according to Firebug.)

That’s my feedback, but I guess, having identified the CSS locations, I can just add a Stylish rule for myself. I enjoy reading you posts.

  5. Below every post, there is a picture of you with “John” written next to it. This is unnecessary and takes up a lot of space. You don’t have any other author on this blog and your picture and name are displayed to the right anyway.
