As much as I like the idea of Open Goldberg variations, years of listening to Gould recordings makes it quite hard to listen for me :)
I agree, Michal. Gould spoiled me too. But I’m listening to Ishizaka’s interpretation right now and I’m liking what I hear.
It took me a year of not listening to Gould to have room for other artists. As it turns out, there is in fact more than one way to play the Goldbergs, but Gould does crowd the room a bit.
